Drene and June on the cenotaph

This story was submitted to the peoples war sight.by a volunteer from the CVS on behalf of Drene Brennan.

On VE day 1945 Drene Brennan led what she believes was the longest conga line ever - stretching the length of Blackpool promenade. "it was around 8 miles long" she said. "I could have qualified for the Guinness Book of Records if it had been around in those days."
Drene ran a dancing school in Blackpool in the lead up to VE day, teaching soldiers, sailors and airmen, the rudiments of the waltz, quickstep and foxtrot "they wanted to learn to dance in order to get the girls," she said.
