I can remember an air raid over Barry. As a child, I went into the Anderson shelter, which was at my grandmothers. Her garden overlooked a cemetery and the Anderson shelter was at the back of her garden by railings. The other side of the railings was a cemetery. I recall with horror, seeing big garden spiders in the shelter. I was more scared of the spiders than the bombs falling on Barry (South Wales) where I lived during the war.
