I was the eldest child. I was sent on an errand by my mum, pushing my little sister in her pushchair in Victoria Road. I knew an air raid was going on, I could hear the noises, but carried on doing the errand. I passed a brick wall and people just picking themselves up. I wondered why but carried on. then I saw mum running down the road with her pinny on and I didn't know why. It turned out I just missed being bombed and machine gunned! If I had turned round I would have seen them.
