I remember during the war, it was a Saturday night, there was three of us; kids in Norris Green. It was going dark, it was 9pm, and there was an air raid, you, we went to our local shelter on Carr Lane and though mass bombings were underway outside, the local ARP warden actually threw us out of the shelter for 鈥淢aking too much noise.鈥 Bombs were coming down around us and you could see the city was on fire, we hid by our a fence and mum and dad were looking for us鈥hen we told them what the ARP warden had done, he was sacked!
