Spitfire P7916 piloted by Johnny Johnson.

We had to walk three miles to school, crossing Carnaby runway. One morning we were held up as there were so many planes landing. When we got to school we were told off by the teacher for being late.

We lived on a farm and one day we could hear a German plane coming over the cliffs at Auburn Farm. My mother told us to run into the woods and to keep out of the way. Another plane (a Spitfire?) came out of nowhere and shot him down. I do not know what happened to the German pilot.
