During the war I had measles and Dad had to carry me to the shelter.
My Dad had to help build prisoner of war camps at Bridgewater.
We had powdered eggs to eat and black currant jelly, not jam, it came out of a tin.
Dad had an allotment, you weren't allowed grass in the garden, it had to be vegetables or flowers. Lots of public parks were given over to vegetables-digging for victory.
I remember one of our neighbours had a cine camera and we paid a penny to see the old silent movies. We thought it was hilarious!
