I was born on 26th February 1943. I cannot remember the war as such, but I feel privilaged to have seen things that would have been superseeded had there not been a war. Trams, Road Rollers, Rationing and Ration Books. Being sent to stand over coal tar in the road works when we had whooping coughs and croup. Night watchmen, braisiers. Tin baths in front of the fire on Friday nights, and an outside lavatory.
Peaches are my favourite fruit. I can remember the velvety texture and soft inside of my first one bought from a barrel at Portland Bill in approx. 1946.
I feel privilaged also because I was brought up on free milk and orange juice, good education and the 'you've never had it so good 60's'.
When I met and married my husband, had babies and I hope taught them some values.
