My cousin George Tolley a Leading Signalman was home on leave before going back to join his Submarine. I was staying with my aunt and family while he was at home. He was great fun and livened the place up.
He wasn't happy to be going back to sea again. And it wasn't very long before he was reported missing and nothing else was heard of him.
Over the years we wondered where his submarine had gone down and we didn't like to think we didn't even know anything about it.
Until lately when my daughter started researching the family history and found where to look find him.
We now have the report of when the H.M. Talisman was sunk, Friday 18th Sepember 1942 it was in the area between Malta and Gibralta.
His name is on the Naval Memorial in Portsmouth.
This is not enough for his life but all that can be done for him and the thousands of others who died in the same way as he did
