my father was a tank sargeant with the 1st northamptonshire yeomanry
he landed on d-day+9
was involved in the battle for caen
the follow up of operation market garden
operation goodwood,the battle of the bulge
battle for raamsdonk,the liberation of belsen concentration camp.
my father also removed,at gun pointa group of british soldiers who were looting a catholic church.
twice he survived his sherman being blown up
he had a huge conscience over the death of a spanish friend who he thought died in his place,thesecwere just some of the traumatic
actions in which he took part.
sadly my father died in 1986, he had bad dreams about the war until the day he died.
all his three children are intensley proud of his service and that of his surviving brother john who was mentioned in despatches at tobruk!a group has been opened
