I was realesed from Plesseys war work aged
15 I started work at a garment factory.
on the corner of Ley st,opposite the super
cinema, I stayed three days, it was awful
so at lunch time I left and went to the
cinema across the road.
sittingt there enjoying the film when
suddenly the screen slowly fell down, and
then a loud bang and clouds of dust.
the most frighting crashing as the roof
coming down .
I remember people shouting over here/
and I saw a torch flashing so I headed for it, we came out in Ley st, by the factory
there was nothing left of it /
a pile of bricks and smoke. a air raid
warden told us a direct hit of a V2 rocket
nobody could have survied
I was very scared and ran home,
my father said it wasnt my time.
a few days later we heard the Royal Family
were coming to see the damage, so my sister
and I stood behind the baricade and the
Queen came over to the people and smiled
at us and asked how we are coping
we smiled back but said a bit over awed/
I wonder does anyone else remember that bomb?
