My husband was a MP (military policeman) in the 8th army desert rats. He was stationed in the Egyptian desert and had to deliver various messages and see to any road accidents in the area. He also arrested any trouble makers. He was gone six and a half years. He saw his daughter born but never saw her again until she was seven. His commander was a General Montgomery who gave them pep talks to boost the morale.
