Anyone could be called up to do air raid duty, if you were called up you had to do it. I was in Carrington doing it. We鈥檇 take card games and food with us. One night I didn鈥檛 feel very well and was feeling worse and worse, I was sat in front of the big fire and I thought I鈥檝e got to get out of this room. I went down the first step then missed my footing and fell down them, and passed out. When I came round my boss took me home and told my mother off for letting me go to work when I was feeling so poorly, but she hadn鈥檛 known. I made a few friends there as we would play card games and things.
