I was born in Swanington and married in 1939 in a costume at 8am at Swanington Church.
My husband was in the army and I didn't see him for 5 years.
Whilst my husband was away we moved to Melbourne Street and then Vaughan Street where we lived for 25 years.
My husband was a butcher at Wards the Butcher. He retired and we moved to Park Road.
I have been widowed for 20 years.
For VE Day we had a party in Vaughan Street and I worked at Clutsom Kemp during the war years.
I worked 6am - 10am and then 2pm — 6pm and the other shift was 10am — 2pm and then 6pm — 10pm.
I was a weaver then.
I remember the bombing in Owen Street.
