I arrived from Dublin in 1938, aged 20, to marry the man that I loved in Fosehill, Coventry. In 1940 we were bombed out and had to be evacuated to Nuneton (Bedwood) from where my husband had to cycle into Coventry for work every day.
I also had a baby during the war and decided to return to Dublin where I thought it may be safer, however, we arrived just in time to witness Dublins first bombs. I was also nearly shot there. We decided to return to Coventry where I fell pregnant again with a baby girl.
