"This story was submitted to the People's War site by a volunteer from Gloucester on behalf of Mr Leach from Churcham Glos and has been added to the site with his permission. Mr Leach fully understands the site's terms and conditions".
As a very young child (born 1938) an army (possibly Canadian) set up camp on the farm where I was living and I can remember queuing up with the soldiers with a mess tin for stew out of a cauldron.
My Father went to an aircraft crash site (possibly Windrush) and brought home a small piece of the wreckage. It was in my box of toys for a number of years.
