A German bomber came down in St. Just and it fell on Lesley Vages's dwelling at the top of Bosweddan Lane. The two cottages that were destroyed have never been replaced but now there are a row of garages on the site. Most of the crew were killed but one parachuted into Service(?) Moor. As the plane was coming down it struck the Weslyan Sunday school, knocking off a few tiles. There wasn't much damage to the Sunday school but I remember seeing one of the planes engines that had rolled along three garden walls at West Place. The people living there were very lucky as if the engine had landed a few yards in another direction, it would have gone through the houses. The engine took down three garden walls which were in line with the dwellings before coming to a rest.
