I remember having 2 young boys from Rotherhithe in London stay with us - they were about 7 and as they were brothers they were very keen to stay together. They stayed some time and luckily for us they were very well behaved! I was about 20 at the time but loved playing with them. I've always thought it a shame they we didn't stay in touch after the war was over.
I remember the Steals & Simpson shoe factory being bombed. I'd snuck off to the cinema which was near the factory and my mum was very worried!
I also remember that, during the air raids when we went into the shelter, my mother's pug dog would join us. He survived the war!
