As most of the father’s were away the mother’s needed quite a lot of support and help and we often knew the Granny too and older children who were at school. Some children were evacuees with added problems or they had moved here with their mother from other places. In many cases we saw great changes as they became more secure, settled down and learned to adapt to the nurses and other children. Where are they now and what did they become — nurses and children?
