We lived near the Docks in East 1. We used to go to the Jewish Market nearby to get our food. During the all-clear we used to go out onto the steets to sing and dance and have a good time. We had to make the most of it and have a happy time. I had one Sister evacuated, one in the Land Army and one in the Army.

I used to work at London Bridge, there was some bombing there during the day and also in the evening. We had no transport so we walked to work too. Sometimes we would spend the nights sleeping in the London Underground if we were out.

I got married in 1945, my Husband was still in the Army at the time. We used to enjoy going Ballroom Dancing in the West End. I had a job until 1946, when I decided to leave work and start a family.
