I lived in Southwell during the war. Nothing much happened in Southwell. There was no bombing. My father, Albert Kendall, was the first to be called up on reserve in Southwell on August 14th just before the outbreak of war in September. He had also served in the first world war.
I worked at a munitions factory in Newark and later in Bunny in Nottingham
In Farnsfield village a British plane crashed killing the pilot.
Edingley village got the worst of the bombing around this area.
