James Wilson killed in Italy 20th September 1945.
Serving in Italy after World War II and hoping to after some considerable time to get leave to go home. In his letter of 14th September 45 to his mother, Jean he wrote:
S/Sgt Wilson J G
No 1445156
"A" Target Aircraft
c/o School of Artillery
A.A Wing
C.M.F.
14th September 1945
"Received your welcome letter dated 4th Sept and am pleased to hear by it that you are all keeping well. I am glad that you are having a good time with Willie and it will be a great change for him. Have you heard from Angus or any of them down there yet. I suppose you will have had all the news from Willie or has he stopped going down there now. The weather has not been to good lately, we have thunder and rain at night and I haven't seen anything like it before, although it usually clears up during the day.
The only thing that I Know about my leave so far is that I am almost certain to be home either at the end of this month or the beginning of next as I am on the list to go then, so I don't know if I will be able to give you any warning. I will just be dropping in. I was reading a bit in the Local paper about a nurse who was torpedoed coming over to Africa - well that was on the same ship as I came over on. There seems to be quite a few of the lads home on leave. John Pattie seems to be getting plenty of leave, it looks as if there is something funny about Jenny going to this other place.
Well, Mother, I will now conclude trusting this finds you all in the best of health at present, as it leaves me the same. Give my love to all.
Your loving son,
Jimmy
