In 1981 my wife and I went on holiday to Spain with the over 50鈥檚 Club for a fortnight. The first night in the hotel we went to the dance hall and my wife danced with another guest. When she came back to our table she said that a lady at another table kept staring at me while I was dancing. I said to my wife to go over and ask her why. With that the lady in question came over and said to my wife, 鈥 I鈥檓 sorry for staring at you but where you evacuated at Scarborough during the war in 1940. The house you were billeted in got bombed.鈥
My wife said 鈥淵es it was the only bomb dropped on Scarborough and the daughter of the house got killed and her body fell on top of me and covered me from all of the debris. I was buried alive for a few hours鈥
The lady who was talking to my wife said that the girl was her best friend and I thought I recognised you.
I said to my wife that I could not believe that she had not changed features in 40 years and that she could have kept this secret from me. 鈥淚f this lady had not recognised you I still wouldn鈥檛 have known, But what a coincidence!鈥
