During the war I was evacuated to Worksop, my whole family was. We really enjoyed it where we were staying. They used to split up the school hours into mornings and afternoons and we鈥檇 alternate between them each week.
We used to get up in the morning and go mushroom hunting and could go fishing in the canal nearby. I went to Berridge Road School. I was about 7 years old.
