Front and backside pasted on eachother,of the little note that brought whoop home .1945 he was in the W.G. Regiment.

Yes, when dad was the age that I'm now; I gave him a name: 'whoepee'! But I can't remember why I did. Probably because he let me sit on his knee and swing me through the air.
My father died in the summer of 1999.
He had his own room upstairs in our parental home where he kept his precious goods. Also his memories of the Second World War when he was a POW(Prisoner of War) . I think the officers of the Dutch Army and Marine stayed ther from 1942-1945 as prisoners of the Germans. I found a small box upstairs in my parental home along with my father's belongings of long time ago. It's been made of wood. I apologize for not knowing anymore the exact story that "whoepee" must have told me when I was still living in the house, but in this box there were 5 cigarettes. I smoked one this morning! A small piece of paper with something written on it with a pencil, another small label of something that had a special meaning probably and a piece of schrapnel. That 's what the small wooden box contains.
The box has a jumping deer on it carved out, and engraved the word: Stanislau 1942.
My father was liberated by the Russians in 1945! I think that on this piece of paper someone wrote for him in Russian-language :
'Please mister the Russian ; Jen Dobre, here you have a cigarette, or two, do you want all of them 5 ! I'm in a hurry, please let me through because I'm on my way to Joris !
Djen dobre;
Nih RhuZhummmmmmmi........Joris?
Ja...Jojojojojoris the Goedbloed,
it's my sons name!
The GodBlod ? Goedbloed
My fianc茅e is waiting for me in Tilburg in the Netherlands already since 1942 !
And now that you liberated us.....
I suppose that we're free to go, leave this dreadfull place go home and get married!
And then I'll have me son : Joris Goedbloed.
And Boris said to Whopee: Me Boriz, stableman, daughter Adousha ! You keep your cigarettes. you might need them on your way back to The Netherlands. Adangerous journey and you might come across still dangerous places !, sjooting at you. Now off you go, we're about to have our guns firing in fifteen minutes, every hour till dusk!
Do Widzenja!
Do Witzenja!
Abhor,this cigarette,notwithstanding the aftertaste.
DOOBRA NoTsch !

My decision to aim at a military career, at that time in life, maybe it has been also a path to avoid painfull confrontation with my father about the way he behaved as a familyman, and he was not capable of leaving his war the war that's been. And it's over and done with now! He was cynical about life and society. I think that it is not surprisingly now that I know what I didn't know in 1975. He always used to say :'Chance does not exist'.
On 6th April 1945, the first day at Belsen that no more records of the deceased were kept or found of,on the border of Hessen and Th眉ringen, there is this small village called Rh枚ndorf Merkers, the Americans, probably tipped, discovered the greatest secret treasure that has ever been collected at one place in Europe.
My father also used to say that one-eye is king in the land of the blind. (Still wondering what he meant by that).
