My partners Father Eric George Layton was a member of the royal corps of signals during WWII. He fell in love with a lady in Rome and had plans to marry her. Coming back from obtaining papers he was riding his motorbike - in the other direction was an American lorry which had the misfortune to collide with Eric. His leg was broken so badly he had to have it amputated, he was sent back to England to recover. He stayed in the care of his family and eventually met and married an english lady. He had 1 stepson and 1 son of his own with her and lost contact with his Roman connections due to the chaos after WWII.Is there any family in Italy we could contact? He had a nickname Jed or Jid, Ged, Gid?
