I lived opposite the Clifford Road Primary School. I went for shorthand typing to Miss Hazell who lived at the bottom of Grove Lane. I worked at Fore Street Post Office.

I remember the rationing. I also remember the dances at St Lawrence Church Hall and at St Matthews’ Baths where the floor bounced.
