People think that we had it hard after the war but my wedding was as good as anyone鈥檚. We married in 1945 on the last day of June. I married a serviceman in Gillingham Methodist Church. We had about sixty guests and I got my dress from Chatham. We borrowed chairs from the church and I carried red roses with the help of two bridesmaids. My husband had a hard time getting a suit but his brother was in the Navy and they got extra clothing coupons so he made do for a while and gave his rations to my new husband. It was a lovely do.
