My father used to have to have two egg whites with cod liver oil and milk every morning to line his stomach before he went to work. My brother and sister and I would queue up for the two yolks and take it in turns to have the yolks. It was such a treat. The most wonderful things after the war were bananas. Eventually people knew when they were being delivered to the shops so would queue outside waiting for them.
