We taught the RAF to fly. I was what was called a timekeeper — we took the times of the planes flying off. They were allowed to fly 8-12 hours before they were allowed to go solo then they were assess to see if they could be a navigator or pilot.
I enjoyed working there because I met my husband.
We trained the glider pilots and my husband was a flying instructor. The planes were called Tiger Moths and Majester’s.
Planes were timed in order to se when they were due to be service. Derby was my hometown and we had a wonderful time. We used to go to the tea dances on a Wednesday afternoon.
