Geoffrey Flint with members of the Unit.
My father was Private Geoffrey Flint. He joined up as a wireless operator. He worked on boats in the RAF. They provided a long-range rescue service for planes that had come down in the sea. He was an apprentice at an RAF station then he moved onto boats. He worked in Shetland, Gibraltar and the Gold Coast of Africa.
He eventually became a sergeant.
He stayed on after the war and left in 1951 — he was in a sort of reserve organisation after the war ended. He served in Germany so I went to school there for a while when I was a small boy.
