My dad was inside an air raid shelter with his mum,dad and 4 brothers during a DAYLIGHT air raid.
When the all clear sounded they came out of the shelter but it was DARK and there was a very strange noise.
My dad thought that perhaps they had died and this was an strange heaven !!
In fact a barrage baloon had come away from its moorings and landed in the garden and over the shelter, blanking out all light and creating an odd noise.
It took them over 15 minutes to get out from underneath it!!
