During the bombing of Coventry and indeed anywhere on the railway traincrews were instructed to take cover in the nearest shelter when the alert sounded. If they could not make it they were to take cover in the nearest appropriate place. Our intrepid crew arrived at Coventry only to hear the alert but no shelter to hand. The nearest 'appropriate' shelter seemed like under the nearest wagon. This they did until the all clear sounded.
On emerging from their temporary 'secure' position of safe shelter the driver glanced at the wagon label to find that they had taken shelter under a wagon full of sea mines!!!!
