I lived in the heart of Liverpool throughout the majority of the Blitz. My parents stated that all of us must stay together as a family. Therefore none of us were evacuated. We sheltered underneath the stairs, nine of us all huddled together. Our street was bombed and the bomb sites were called 'The Oller'. As children we used to make a house with the ruins and the bricks. We made little rooms and tables and chairs out of them and kept it clean. It was the children's play area. During this time my brother and one other were thrown against the wall from the blast from a Doodle Bug...
