The Lace Market Gets Hit: Nottingham

This is another tale told to me by my mother when I was quite young.
Apparently,before she was called up for work in munitions,(Grandmother would not let her go into the forces.......but that's another story!!)she set out for work as usual in the famous Lace Market part of Nottingham.
Now the night before Nottingham had been badly hit by air raids-but set out she did and managed to get to her factory.
She said she remembered looking up at her window and thinking"Goodness,I've left it open"
Then walking round what she thought was the corner of the building, she realised that it was only a wall with the window frame in it-the factory had received a direct hit in the night and was completely destroyed.
