Walking to school one day Dad told me a story about his time in Blackburn during the war.
His Dad, my Grandpa, was away in the Navy, working convoys across the North Atlantic. He lived with his Mum and sister in a house near the brow of Azalea Road.
Dad told me about standing on his door-step admiring the beautiful red in the sky, thinking it was a wonderful sunset, only to be told it was the glow of the fires from the Liverpool Blitz.
