My ship was L.C.T 1070. We sailed with the Armada from Newhaven. Our landing beach was Sword. Our training was all on tanks, and we were very good. However, some weeks before D. Day we were ordered to load up with Jerry cans of petrol and ammunition. Arriving on the other side we laid off Sword Beach on D. Day, until the afternoon when we went in, dried out and unloaded. Fortunatey Sword Beach was British occupied and with its high percentage of D.D. tanks we were most successful.
