EVACUATION
My name is Noreen and i was an evacuee.
We were evacuated more or less straight away and i went to a place called Leeming'bar. It was a small village, but it was around the suburbs-countryside where you didn't get attacked.
At the stations, you were given a nametag with a code number on it and we then got taken to an auction where i went with a couple who only wanted the one child. I stayed with them for about nine months to one year.
However, they did try to keep to keep families together.
