This story was added on behalf of Nigel Jones by Natalie Fong of London CSV volunteers. The author is aware of the site's terms and conditions.

My mother, Minnie, remembers Chamberlain coming to Heston Aerodrome, waving the paper saying ‘peace in our time’. She also told me about being evacuated to Wales with my older brother while my father was on central war business. One time she looked out over Heston Aerodrome and saw the gliders lined ready to go to war.
