In late 1944 my mother, Caroline Metcalfe, was taking her twin daughters across Blackheath to the air raid shelter opposite their house. She suddenly flung herself and her daughters to the ground and covered them both with her body. I looked to the horizon and saw a large orange coloured telegraph pole in the sky. It was a V2. I think this is a rare sighting as V2's were only visible when they were about to land. What a brave lady. I remember her with love and pride.
