This story has been added by CSV volunteer Linda Clark on behalf of the author Peter Gilson. His story was given to the Trebah Video Archive, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2004. The Trebah Garden Trust understand the site’s terms and conditions.

There was a great deal of activity until the end of the war when things did quieten down. There were the street parties but the war hadn’t entirely finished as the Japanese war was still going on. This didn’t go on for long but we didn’t know much about that. The blackout finished and rationing as we knew it was worse after the war than it was during the war for a number of reasons. I wasn’t there then so I didn’t know much about it.
