During the war I was evacuated to a boarding school in the ex home of Lord Desborough. On Sunday in June 1944 we were playing a cricket match. Suddenly the sky was filled with aeroplanes. The sky was black with planes. It was very noisy, I think they were going to France. I think it was D-Day. The cricket match stopped and we all looked up into the sky. It seemed to take a long time for all these planes to fly over.
