I was 3 when my parents were bombed out of our house in Wallasey, Father was in the home guard, I can remember just my Mother running with me to the shelters, which were about 3 bunks high. When the war ended my parents lived in the house opposite were the shelters were because that was the only place standing, and they stayed there for 57 years. I remember the VE and VJ parties. I also remember that people used to collect and sell shrapnel to the scrap metal man. I remember seeing my first banana when I was 7.
