I was a child that was evacuated from south east london, i was nine years old. The place that i was evacuated to was called nutfield, redhill surrey. We all sat in a school room where people had to pick us out, but we were the lucky ones because we got picked by people called the Charles family there house was called the half way house because their house was half way between nutfield and blechinlee. It was just me and my four year old sister my baby sister stayed in London. We stayed there eighteen months but then had to leave because there was two mothers that always rowed with the Charles. When we left we lived with a lady called Miss Pellie she lived in south nutfield, from there we went to Blechinlee, Mrs Brians house where my little sister caught fleas, Mrs Brian poured raw lisol on to her head and burnt her head!. After all that we had to go home for the blitz of London.
