I was in Whitehall, Bristol during the Blitz when the German spotter plane used to fly over and then there would be raids when they would drop bombs, then in 1941 they carried out evacuations and I was sent to Somerset as a evacuee to a youth centre and was then was picked out to go to work on a farm,

After a year I came home to Bristol and went back to school.

After leaving school I worked in transport making deliveries to ammunition factories in Bristol — I only ever remember one factory being bombed.
