I was 5 or 6 years old at the beginning of the war. My mother and I went to Derbyshire to visit my Grandmother. There was a large factory in the area and they were bombed regularly. We had never known bombing at home. While we were there there was a bombing raid I was very frightening and the next morning there was shrapnel in the road outside and the bungalow behind my grandmothers had been bombed.
