I took part in the well known battles througt the Western Dessert, El Alamein, Tobruk to Tripoli thence invaded Sicily via Syracuse and passing Mount Etna to Messina. I then landed in Regio Calabaria, the Southern tip of Italy, thence my journey took me throught Italy via the usual theatres of war i.e., Casino, Sangrio, the Po Valley etc., to Northern Italy, by the time I arrived in Northern Italy, armitice had been declared. At this stage I was sent with my colleagues to Yugoslavia as President Tito had problems argeeing to the sudden ending to the war. I served in the Western Dessert with the 5th RHA and in Italy with 6th Army Group Royal Artillery. Some comrades, whose names I still recall, A.J. Humphrys, Welshman, Johnny, who had a phone number St Clere 54, Les Nation from Peterborough or Winchester. Ken White of Beckenham, Kent. Any of these old comrades of mine or any others I befriended in those difficult times please get intouch via the net.I attended the launch of this web site at the Imperial War Museum on Wednesday 29th October 2003. Regards, and hoping to get many replies. Stanley Taylor.
