When war broke out in 1938 I was 18 and I lived at Hull with my parents. We had to stand in a queue to wait for our identity cards and ration books. Then has time went on planes came over. 1939-40 there was a lot of bombing going off. I went to the Isle of Man, met my husband there. We were married in 1940. Then I had my daughter at Liverpool hospital, bombs were going off all the time.
