The following story is not mine, It is of a lady that I had interviewed on behalf of the 大象传媒 on trafalgar square, as I found her story fascinating and interesting, I decided to use it here.
There I was, naive, wondering what was happening. I got a job at a factory that produced amunition, I dont remember what kind, as I was only 14 at that time.
During the raids we had a shelter in the garden, we seeked safety there during such times. As the raids started getting stronger day by day, we transformed our shelter to the london underground. We were there for long periods, the constant bombing was just horrible. We didn't know if there was tomorrow, so we lived life to the fullest. We sang, danced, and enjoyed life as much as we could after each raids.
To get food we needed rashan books and ID cards. We were also given coupons if we needed to buy something such as cloths, etc.... The queque's for food were long. We only got one egg, two ounces of sugar, and a few other things. We didn't have the privilage to eat or even see any sort of fruits. Those days were just horrible, and scary to some extent. I am glad to have passed those days, really glad.
