Ken's Wedding Picture 1941

In 1941 my brother was conscripted aged 20 into the Army barracks at Beverley in East Yorkshire. My mother, father and his girlfriend and I went to visit him there. He married his girlfriend on the 8th March, 1941.
On the night of 3rd June, 1941 a direct hit on the house, after the all-clear had been sounded in Blenheim Street, Hull, resulted in the death of his wife and 8 other members of her family. What a tragic waste of life. At the time my brother was posted abroad. He remained in the Army until the end of 1945. Countless other families suffered similar tragedies — what a waste of lives!
