An awesome stretch of barren land,
ridges, wadis, dunes and sand,
waterholes and oases do not abound,
but those are where most life is found
See wild camels or a camel train
perhaps the wandering Bedouin
with his flocks of goats and sheep
and goatskin tents wherein to sleep
Hot and dusty all day long
extremely cold after sundown
mile after mile it stretches on
strange things one may come upon
Large areas covered with seashell
and petrified forest there as well
volcanic rock so hard and jagged
crossing which can be a hazard
One sees a mirage in the sky
the heat of day has lifted high
sand adder, scorpion, lizard too
gazelle and gerbil to name a few
Sandfly and mosquito can be met
that is why one needs a net
silent stillness of the night
鈥榥eath the stars and bright moonlight
gives a feeling of great peace
one hopes that it will never cease.
